Responsibility is the final layer of the stack. If your media lives here, the least we owe you is to be reachable.
The hands behind it
LightBox is built and run by the same operator behind Arc Codex. The throughline is media format engineering — decades of it. It runs from Handmade Software, early image-conversion tooling built on Ghostscript, through to today's HandBrake- and ffmpeg-based video pipeline.
The instinct is the same across all of it: take whatever format you have and make it open, playable, and yours — on hardware you control rather than a cloud renting your memories back to you.
What LightBox does
A quiet, personal media library. Upload images, audio, and video; oddball formats are converted automatically (MKV → MP4, archival audio). Organize into batches and share deliberately with token-based links — or keep everything private, which is the default.
